MK3.Org is a small, independent OpenSimulator grid. Here's what that means, and how to get in.

The short version

OpenSim, no strings attached.

OpenSimulator is open-source virtual world server software. MK3.Org runs its own grid on top of it — independent of any commercial platform, with region owners covering their own hosting and the grid core run as a shared community service.

The MK3 Grid runs on a dedicated bare metal Linux server located at a data center meaning it is online and accessible 24/7/365 and running on commercial bandwidth.

There's no subscription and no land-use fee to visit. If you already have an avatar on another OpenSim grid that allows outbound hypergrid travel, you can walk straight in without creating a new account here.

Getting in

Connecting with a viewer

  1. 01

    Install a compatible viewer

    Firestorm, Singularity, and most other third-party viewers that support OpenSimulator logins will work fine.

  2. 02

    Add MK3.Org as a grid

    In your viewer's grid manager, add a new grid using the login URI: mk3.org:5002

  3. 03

    Create an avatar, or hypergrid in

    New here — register an avatar through the grid's account page. Visiting from another grid — use your existing avatar and teleport to mk3.org:5002 from your home grid.

  4. 04

    Log in and look around

    You'll land at the welcome region. From there, check the regions page for where to go next.
